After your visit, we hope you’ll agree that our region is rife with natural beauty from shoreline to alpine. With access to Mount Washington and Strathcona Provincial Park, Cumberland community forest, and historic Seal Bay Nature Park - to name but a few - there is so much more to explore.
Because of the diversity in terrain available in the area, there’s something for everyone (cliche but true!). The outdoors are meant for all to enjoy and as such, we’ve ensured our hiking and walking trail recommendations include something to suit every fitness level, age and ability. From paved pathways to earthy forest floors, flat footpaths to steeper mountain inclines.

Popular Hikes & Nature Walks
Seal Bay Nature Park allows visitors to immerse themselves in both forested and seaside paths and the rich history of the area. Watch for signage written in the traditional aýaĵuθəm Coast Salish language and learn about the cultural significance of the region for the K’ómoks First Nation.
Nymph Falls Nature Park is a beautiful, accessible trail for the whole family and packed with photo ops (like the obligatory waterfall pic!). Categorized as an easy hike, it’s both family and dog friendly - including several designated off-leash sections.
Cumberland Community Forest allows for easy access to historic walks and wildlife viewing, just a stone’s throw from downtown Cumberland. Be sure to download their illustrated map to plan your route.
