Brasil Fest
A vibrant celebration of Brazilian culture featuring cuisine, live music and performances.
This event has finished.
Axé Capoeira Comox Valley in partnership with The Brazilian Cultural Foundation invite the community to join them at Brasil Fest on the evening of Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Native Sons Hall. This event will be a celebration of Brazilian culture featuring vibrant music, performances and cuisine.
This family-friendly event will include a traditional Brazilian meal prepared by a local family along with the "Axé Show" featuring new music from Mestre Barrão (Brazil), live acrobatic and martial art performances with Mestre Testa (Victoria) and Mestre Barraozinho (Vancouver). Additionally, participants will be entertained with dance and Capoeira demonstrations by local and professional practitioners before a Forró partner dance class with Brígida. The evening will finish off with live Brazilian music to get everyone on their feet.
Through Axé Capoeira’s work with youth, they witness every day how music, movement, and cultural connection help build confidence, unity, and emotional well-being. Therefore, 100% of proceeds from Brasil Fest will be donated to The Brazilian Cultural Foundation (BCF) and The John Howard Society of North Island. By supporting this event, you give back to local youth programs, including Foundry Comox Valley, providing essential mental health and wellness support to children, youth and families right here in our community.
Brasil Fest is just one event as part of a 6-day festival of Brazilian Culture which includes two days of workshops, a belt ceremony and a 3-day youth camp with Brazilian Master of Capoeira Mestre Barrão. Once again, the BCF will also be participating in an, INTERCULTURAL EXCHANGE with the KUMUGWE CULTURAL SOCIETY at the K’omoks Big House on Tuesday March 24th, 2026. Entrance to this event is free to the public. To register, please email:
Additionally, the Axé Capoeira Comox Valley students are fervently priming their skills in preparation. They are especially excited to display them to the community after recently participating in the 25 year anniversary Batizado in Victoria, BC, where 46 Comox Valley students earned the next belts on their journey of Capoeira.
